Step-by-Step Tattoo Aftercare
- Keep the wrap on for the first three days unless discussed otherwise!
- If the second skin falls off, don’t panic! Keep it clean and dry and wait until the third day to start following step 3.
- After 3 days, remove the second skin gently, wash your tattoo and pat it dry with a CLEAN towel or paper towel. Repeat 1-2 daily.
- Apply a very thin layer of the aftercare balm / ointment. It should feel hydrated – not greasy. Repeat 2-3 for 2 weeks.
During healing, avoid:
- Scratching or picking.
- Swimming pools, hot tubs (max 2 hours for the first 2 weeks), lakes, or the ocean.
- Excessive sweating or soaking.
- Direct sunlight.
- Harsh soaps, chemicals, or exfoliants.
- Tight or dirty clothing over the tattoo.
Watch out for warning signs!
- Excessive redness
- Significant swelling
- Increasing pain
- Fever
- Pus or unusual discharge.
Disclaimer: Your tattoo is an investment and a permanent piece of art. Following the proper aftercare is the best way to ensure it heals beautifully and stays looking its best for years to come!
